What Should I Know About PPC Advertising?
There are key elements to PPC advertising that you should know before starting a campaign.
1. You pay for ALL clicks no matter who they are or where they came from.
Essentially the search engines require you to pay for just about all clicks that come from them to your website. This includes competitors, salesman, other marketing companies, as well as potential patients that could click through on your listings. Mitigating as many "useless" clicks as possible from your campaign is what our PPC experts work hard on each and every day.
2. This is Pay Per Click not Pay Per Sale or Pay Per Lead.
Conversion ratios will vary greatly dependent upon the design of your website. On average 80-98% of your clicks will result in nothing and will simply be wasted. For example lets say that you are bidding $3.25 per click. Well, 100 clicks would cost you $325 dollars. Assuming a 10% conversion ratio you would receive about 10 leads and usually 1-3 of those will convert into new patients. $100 to $300 per patient could be possible.
3. Pay per click should be used to supplement organic SEO in the beginning and end. What this means is that it does take awhile for your search engine rankings to appear. Some markets it could be as soon as 30 days others it could be as long as 6 months. It's during this time that PPC is most useful. It can deliver immediate traffic and patients, albeit at a higher per conversion. It is also useful in the long run to identity new keywords for our SEO's to target.
For example lets say that we have you ranked on 25 keywords. You're getting great traffic, but you just started a new specialty and have no rankings in those areas. Well, we can run a PPC campaign to "test the waters" so to speak on different keywords. Whichever one gives us the highest conversion ratio will be the new keywords that our SEO team will target.
PPC definitely has its place among your online marketing arsenol as long as its used correctly, monitored feverishly, and controlled on all levels it can be a great marketing tool.
